In Ontario, the law was officially amended to permit the remote commissioning of documents in 2020. The Commissioners for Taking Affidavits Act was updated with Ontario Regulation 431/20, establishing that commissioning can be executed remotely.

• You have valid, government-issued photo ID (passport, driver's license, permanent resident card, etc.)
• Ensure any witnesses are ready to join the call with their unique link. Witnesses must join from a separate device at Staples or from a different location.
