In Alberta, a Commissioner of Oath is not the same as a Notary Public, and cannot act in a similar position as a Notary. Commissioner of Oaths are generally employed in law and real estate firms, municipalities, and can do the following acts:

  • Take and receive affidavits, affirmations or declarations
  • Attest the oaths, affidavits, affirmations or declarations
