Common questions about signing the Enduring Power of Attorney in BC

Do I need to bring a witness? Does NotaryPro provide a witness?

Yes, you must bring a second witness to sign your Enduring Power of Attorney while on the online video call. Ideally your witness will be physically located in the same place as you at the time of signing.

NotaryPro’s notary public will serve as the first witness (as a licensed legal professional) in accordance with Ontario and BC law.

All Power of Attorneys must be signed by two witnesses.

I signed my Enduring POA. Now what do I do?

BC and Ontario law currently requires physical “wet ink” signatures on the original printed document. After you physically sign your Enduring Power of Attorney, Notary Pro will physically sign the document as well.

Once signed, Notary Pro can register the Enduring POA with the Land Title Survey Authority.

Can NotaryPro register my Enduring POA with the BC Land Title Survey Authority?

Yes! NotaryPro can register your Enduring Power of Attorney with the BC Land Title Survey Authority (LTSA).

The LTSA’s registration filing fee for this service is $30.09 and is payable at the time you book the appointment with NotaryPro.

Learn more about the LTSA registration process in our blog post.
