NotaryPro Raises $500K Seed Round as Canadian Legal Tech’s First Online Notary Platform
TORONTO, August 10, 2022— NotaryPro, Canada’s first and leading online notary public service and the country’s largest notary network, secured $500,000 USD in a seed funding round to further develop the digital future of notary services. Individuals and companies alike will soon have the capability to authenticate signatures on critical documents online from anywhere through NotaryPro’s innovative platform.
The round, which closed in July 2022, was led by a California-based investment group. They see NotaryPro as a key player in the transformation of the notarial and legal industry by pioneering digital, remote-first notary and commissioning services.
With legal technology’s $14B market expected to triple in size in the next 5 years (NASDAQ, 2021), NotaryPro is focused on expanding its technological capabilities to tap into this growing market. This investment will accelerate the refinement of its market-first online notary platform, complete with a digital signing technology.
Founded in 2016 as a side-project by CEO Robert Onley, COVID-19 was a major catalyst for the company’s rapid growth. The pandemic spurred a wave of new regulations allowing for online commissioning and digital signing in each Canadian province. The team itself has also seen substantial growth, rapidly expanding to nine employees and more than 200 notary service providers across Canada in the last two years.
