  • The Final Verdict: NotaryPro vs. Notarize.ca

Finding a notary isn’t typically on your radar until life moments call for the occasion. Whether you need an Affidavit for court or an Invitation Letter to reunite with family, a seamless notary solution is key.

In Canada, two popular names you may have come across are NotaryPro and Notarize.ca. At first glance, they might look similar. But once you dig deeper into pricing transparency, availability, and convenience, the differences quickly start to show.

In this comparison, we’ll break down both providers side by side to uncover which service is truly worth your time and money.

Pricing

Below, you’ll find a breakdown of what each company charges, along with key details that can affect the overall cost of their notary services.

NotaryPro

At NotaryPro, we offer fair and competitive pricing for both individuals and businesses. Whether you need a single notary appointment or frequent business notarizations, you can choose the option that best fits your needs.

When you sign estate documents such as Wills or Powers of Attorney online with a notary, you can enjoy significant savings. Your appointment also includes both required witnesses at no extra cost, plus a commissioned Affidavit of Execution.

See our full pricing below:

Notarize.ca

Notarize.ca offers average pricing for general commissioning services with a notary, but it’s pretty expensive when it comes to signing Wills. Notably, it also doesn’t offer any pricing incentives for businesses that require notary services.

See the prices:

  • Standard Online Notary Appointment: $37.99
  • Additional Witness: $37.99 per witness
  • Last Will & Testament: $174
  • Power of Attorney: $117
  • Document Drafting only: From $45.99 (plus notarization fees)
  • Mailing Services:
    • $20.99 base fee, plus shipping costs
    • $4.99 for each additional signed document

The Verdict:

When it comes to pricing, NotaryPro is the clear winner. Notarize.ca offers a lower starting fee, but with no business pricing and higher estate document costs, it offers fewer ways to save. Meanwhile, NotaryPro offers competitive rates across all services, plus unique savings for both individuals and businesses.

With NotaryPro, estate documents such as Wills and Powers of Attorney (POA) are more affordable when signed online. Your online notary appointment for estate documents includes both required witnesses and a commissioned Affidavit of Execution at no extra cost.

For businesses, our bulk notary credits can help you save up to $275 and provide the convenience of instant appointments and faster scheduling. Whether you’re an individual or a company, NotaryPro delivers better value, more flexibility, and a cost-effective notary experience.

Online Notary Services

NotaryPro

NotaryPro provides both scheduled and instant online notary services, which gives you the flexibility to choose what works best for your needs.

For urgent situations, you can connect with a licensed notary in as little as five minutes — no account required. Just input your personal details and upload your documents with a valid ID.

If you prefer to plan ahead, you can easily book a future appointment through our intuitive platform. We offer availability in the mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends, making it easy to find a time that fits your schedule. Our online notary appointments often take just seven minutes from start to finish, helping you get back to your day faster.

You can connect with a licensed notary from anywhere with Wi-Fi, whether you’re at the airport, in the office, or relaxing at home. You can also choose your preferred device: a laptop, tablet, or smartphone.

Notarize.ca

Notarize.ca also offers online notary services. However, you must first create an account before accessing the booking system. This extra step can be a hassle, especially for busy people who need quick access. Once logged in, appointment availability is very limited. Its open slots run only from 7:00 AM to 11:20 AM, with no afternoon or evening options. Its website also doesn’t specify whether the online notary service works on a smartphone or tablet.

The Verdict:

NotaryPro simply outshines Notarize.ca in terms of the online notary services it provides. With NotaryPro, you can connect with a licensed notary in as little as five minutes. We provide appointment options in the mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends, while Notarize.ca limits bookings to morning slots only. NotaryPro also works on any device, whereas Notarize.ca’s website doesn’t specify if its service is compatible with a smartphone.

In‑Person Notary Services

NotaryPro

With over 270 in-person locations across Canada, you can meet with a notary in every province and major city. Simply find a notary near you and book an in-person notary appointment entirely online in just minutes.

Choose your city, time zone, and preferred date, and you’ll see real‑time appointment availability. Many of our notaries offer early morning, evening, and weekend appointments, so you can find a time that truly works for your schedule. Our in-person notary service is designed around your life, not the other way around.

Notarize.ca

Notarize.ca offers in-person notarization only through its sister company, Downtown Notary, with offices limited to the Greater Toronto Area, York Region, and a few nearby cities.

Booking availability varies by location. While some offices offer online booking, others, such as the Toronto Downtown (Bay and Wellesley) location, require you to call for appointment.

Even where online booking is available, appointment times can be limited. Many locations do not have same-day availability, with some offering the next openings one to two weeks out. Evening and weekend options are not consistently available across locations, making it harder to find a time that fits your schedule. For anyone outside Southern Ontario, there is no local in-person option at all, meaning you’ll need to rely solely on its online service.

The Verdict:

NotaryPro makes in‑person notarization simple, accessible, and truly nationwide. With over 270 locations across Canada and flexible scheduling options, you can book an appointment that fits your life in just minutes.

Notarize.ca, by contrast, relies on a small network of offices in Southern Ontario through its sister company, Downtown Notary. Availability is inconsistent: some locations require you to call to book, while others with online booking may have openings only one to two weeks away.

Evening and weekend options are not offered across all locations, making scheduling far less flexible than with NotaryPro. For convenience, speed, and accessibility coast to coast, NotaryPro is the clear winner.

Mobile Notary Services

NotaryPro

Life doesn’t always make it easy to get to a notary’s office, and NotaryPro gets that. That’s why we bring our notary service to you. Whether you’re at home, in the office, or recovering in the hospital, a licensed notary can meet you where it’s most convenient.

Our mobile notary service is available everywhere across Canada. Fees start at $54.95, plus standard notarization fees, and this covers the notary’s travel time and mileage.

Notarize.ca

Notarize.ca doesn’t list mobile notary services as one of its services on its website. If you’re looking for a notary to come to you, you’ll be directed to its third‑party provider, Downtown Notary. Even then, availability is limited to parts of Southern Ontario. For most people residing outside its coverage, that means the mobile notary option simply isn’t there.

The Verdict:

NotaryPro brings trusted notary services right to your door. With coverage across every Canadian province, our mobile service is ideal for seniors, busy professionals, and anyone unable to travel to an office.

Notarize.ca, on the other hand, offers no direct mobile option, leaving most people without this level of flexibility. If you want notary services that truly fit your life, NotaryPro is the service you can count on.

Business Solutions

NotaryPro

NotaryPro isn’t just built for individuals. We’re a trusted partner for businesses across Canada. With bulk notary credits and convenient business solutions, organizations save both time and money while enjoying a streamlined notary appointment.

Depending on how often your business uses notary services, you can save up to $31,000 annually. These savings come from avoiding expenses like transportation, mileage, parking, printing, and administrative time. They also reflect the value of keeping employees focused on meaningful work instead of commuting to in-person notary offices.

Our online notary appointments take as little as seven minutes, compared with the 45-minute average for in-person services. This means less time spent on travel and document handling, and more time running your business.

Notarize.ca

Although Notarize.ca also offers online notary services, it doesn’t offer bulk discounts, business bundles, or corporate solutions. Every notary appointment is billed separately, with no cost‑saving packages or streamlined options for frequent users. For businesses with regular notary needs, this often means higher expenses and more time spent on administrative tasks.

The Verdict:

For organizations, the difference is clear. NotaryPro saves businesses time, reduces costs, and scales with your needs. With flexible bundles, instant appointments, and proven savings, NotaryPro is the smarter choice, while Notarize.ca leaves companies paying more for less convenience.

Legal Document Templates

NotaryPro

Preparing legal documents is easier than ever with NotaryPro’s ready‑to‑use templates. With over 80 lawyer‑reviewed templates available, you can create everything from Affidavits to Statutory Declarations, all directly in your web browser.

Each template is fully fillable and properly formatted, so you’ll never have to wonder where your information should go. Best of all, you don’t need to download software or even create an account. Just pick the form you need, fill it out online, and you’re ready to go.

Our templates deliver a fast, reliable, and stress‑free way to prepare legal documents from anywhere.

Notarize.ca

Notarize.ca does provide a few free templates, but the selection is extremely limited, with only eight options in total. Notarize.ca’s templates are Word documents you have to download and complete, leaving room for formatting errors.

For government and court forms, the site often just redirects you to external pages where you’ll need to download files. Some even require additional software, adding more hassle to the process.

Further, some templates even come with a fee. For example, its OSAP Affidavit Tool costs $5.65, which is unusual since it’s for students applying for financial aid in Ontario.

The Verdict:

For legal document templates, NotaryPro makes the drafting process simple, modern, and stress‑free. You can complete professional, lawyer‑reviewed documents right from your browser, with no confusing downloads or extra software.

Notarize.ca’s reliance on static Word files and external links, by contrast, leaves clients doing the hard work themselves. In some cases, it even costs extra, such as its OSAP Affidavit Tool, which is $5.65, while NotaryPro offers it freely. If you want speed, clarity, and confidence that your documents are done right, NotaryPro is the easy choice.

The Final Verdict: NotaryPro vs. Notarize.ca

NotaryPro delivers better value with lower costs for signing estate documents and add-on services, and more appointment options: afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

From instant online appointments to in-person services at over 270 Canadian locations, our notary solutions are built for convenience and flexibility. Plus, with 80+ free, lawyer-reviewed templates and business bulk credits that save organizations thousands each year, NotaryPro combines affordability with unmatched service.

Notarize.ca’s services require you to create an account, work with limited appointment availability, and pay more for estate document signings and add-on services. Its in‑person and mobile options are also limited to a small region, leaving most people without local support.

For clients who value choice, speed, and transparency, the winner is clear: NotaryPro. Book your appointment with us today and experience Canada’s most convenient notary service.
