  • The Final Verdict: NotaryPro vs. BlueNotary

Notary services are evolving fast, with online notary platforms making it possible for businesses to connect with a notary in minutes. Two popular notary services you may encounter are NotaryPro and BlueNotary.

On the surface, they seem similar — but once you look closer, the differences in pricing, services, and flexibility become clear. Here, we’ll dive into how each provider works so you can decide which one delivers better notary services for your business.

Online Notary Service

NotaryPro

NotaryPro offers flexible online notary appointment scheduling, an easy-to-use platform, and convenient ways to connect.

You can choose between scheduled and instant appointments, giving you the freedom to handle your notary needs on your own terms. If you prefer to plan ahead, you can easily book a future appointment with availability mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. If you have last-minute notary needs, you can meet with a licensed notary within five minutes — with no account creation required.

Our platform is also easy to navigate, allowing you to breeze through the steps and get more time back in your day. Getting started is simple: just enter your details, upload your document(s), valid ID, and payment information. If you don’t have a digital copy of your document, you can quickly snap a photo and upload it via QR code. On average, an online notary appointment takes seven minutes from start to finish, so you can complete the process fast.

Convenience is one of the best perks we offer. Our platform lets you connect with a notary from anywhere with Wi-Fi, whether you’re in the office, in the field, or travelling. You can also use any device to attend an appointment, including a smartphone, tablet, or laptop/computer.

BlueNotary

BlueNotary offers online notary services as well, but booking is clunkier, and it doesn’t offer QR code upload technology.

BlueNotary provides online notary services with both instant and scheduled options, but the overall process is less streamlined. You must create an account before getting started, which can feel like an unnecessary extra step when you need documents commissioned quickly.

When it comes to uploading paperwork, BlueNotary allows standard file types like PDFs and JPGs. However, it lacks the QR upload feature that lets you snap and send a photo in one click. This makes document uploading less convenient if you don’t have a digital copy handy.

Although BlueNotary offers both future scheduling and “Notarize Now” options, the experience isn’t the most intuitive. The extra steps required before connecting with a notary can make the process slower and more confusing if you’re less tech-savvy.

BlueNotary also doesn’t clearly specify whether its service works seamlessly across devices like smartphones, tablets, or laptops.

The Verdict

NotaryPro provides a faster, more convenient, and more transparent experience for online notary services. You can connect with a licensed notary in just minutes without creating an account, and upload a document through a QR feature.

In comparison, BlueNotary requires account creation and lengthy verification steps before you can secure an appointment.

In-Person Notary Service

NotaryPro

NotaryPro makes in-person notary service simple and accessible, with both a wide network of locations across Canada and a seamless booking experience.

With more than 270 in-person locations across Canada, NotaryPro makes it easy to meet with a notary no matter where you are. We offer services in every province, most major cities, and many rural areas, so you can find a convenient location near you.

Our in-person notary booking process is straightforward, too. Just search by city, select your time zone and preferred date, and you’ll instantly see real-time appointment availability. Many notaries also offer early morning, evening, and weekend slots, giving you the flexibility to fit your appointment into your work schedule.

BlueNotary

BlueNotary also provides an in-person option, but it comes with important limitations.

BlueNotary offers in-person notary service, but only through IPEN (In-Person Electronic Notarization). In this model, you still physically meet with a notary. However, the signing itself is done electronically on a tablet or similar device rather than with a traditional pen-and-paper signature.

The limitation is that not all jurisdictions accept IPEN. Some require wet-ink signatures for certain documents, meaning BlueNotary’s service may not always meet legal requirements.

On top of this, booking its IPEN service is more restrictive as you must create a Pro account. In-person appointments are only available with a Pro subscription, which requires an upgrade to book an appointment.

The Verdict

NotaryPro makes in-person notarization widely accessible with traditional, wet-ink signatures and flexible booking. BlueNotary, by contrast, only offers in-person signing if you have a PRO account, and you can only use a digital signature.

Business Solutions

NotaryPro

NotaryPro has become a trusted partner for businesses across Canada. With standard business account perks and bulk notary credits, companies can save both time and money while simplifying their notary needs.

If you create a free business account, you gain access to exclusive perks that make managing your notary needs easier and more efficient. You’ll receive a 10% discount on individual appointments not purchased in bulk, while also saving payment details and identification for quicker bookings. All receipts are automatically stored in one secure location, and frequently used document templates can be saved for convenient reuse whenever needed.

Businesses who want to buy notary appointments in bulk can enjoy flexibility and significant cost savings. You can purchase packs of 5, 10, or 20 appointments, with savings of up to 28% compared to standard pricing. Each credit works for both scheduled and instant appointments and stays valid for two years. This means you can buy in bulk, save money, and use them whenever your business needs arise.

BlueNotary

BlueNotary offers a Business Pro subscription plan where companies pay USD$47 per month for a notary seat. With this plan, you get two notary appointments included every month (normally USD$25 each).

The catch is that if you don’t use your two notary appointments in a given month, you lose them. Any additional notary appointments beyond the two that are included cost extra, starting at USD$25. Unless you know you’ll use two notary appointments every month, this plan will cost you more and you’ll lose money.

The Verdict

While both platforms provide business solutions, NotaryPro delivers more flexibility and long-term value. Bulk credits stay valid for two years, giving you freedom to use them whenever your needs arise. Packs also come on a single invoice, which simplifies accounting.

BlueNotary’s subscription, by contrast, locks you into paying for two appointments each month, meaning you lose money if you don’t use them.

Legal Document Templates

NotaryPro

NotaryPro makes preparing legal documents simple, fast, and stress-free with our library of over 80 free Canadian, lawyer-reviewed templates.

We offer a wide range of documents, from Affidavits to Statutory Declarations, all accessible from your web browser — with no downloads required. Importantly, NotaryPro doesn’t require account creation to use its templates. You can simply select the form you need, fill it out online, and have it emailed to you.

What’s more, every template is properly formatted and fully fillable, so you never need to guess how to structure your document. You can rest assured knowing that you’ll be including all the required information by completing the fillable fields.

BlueNotary

BlueNotary also promotes a library of over 100 free legal document templates, but the experience is inconsistent.

To use or customize any template, you must first create an account. While they are free, access is gated behind this sign-up requirement. Once logged in, the templates are supposed to be editable, but when tested, some showed as unavailable. Without an account, you can only download static PDFs, while full customization is unlocked only inside the platform’s editor.

The Verdict

NotaryPro makes legal templates easy to access and use, with no account creation required, and the templates are ready instantly. BlueNotary, while offering a larger library for its users, requires account creation to access and customize templates.

Pricing

NotaryPro

NotaryPro gives businesses the option to save big through bulk notary credits.

  • 5-Pack: CAD $185 ($37 each, save $65)
  • 10-Pack: CAD $365 ($36.50 each, save $134)
  • 20-Pack: CAD $725 ($36.25 each, save $275)

Each credit is valid for two years. This means you can use them anytime without the risk of losing them if your notary needs change month to month.

BlueNotary

BlueNotary offers businesses a subscription-based approach. Its Business Pro plan costs USD $47 per month, which works out to $23.50 USD per appointment (≈ CAD $32.52). This plan includes:

  • 2 notary appointments per month (valued at USD$50)

After the two free sessions, notary appointments return to the standard USD$25 per use (≈ CAD $34.59).

The Verdict

BlueNotary’s monthly plan might look slightly cheaper per appointment (CAD $32.52 vs. NotaryPro’s CAD $36.25). However, NotaryPro gives you far more flexibility: credits last two years and aren’t tied to monthly minimums, so you never pay for unused appointments. Ultimately, NotaryPro delivers better value, more flexibility, and a smarter overall pricing model.

The Final Verdict: NotaryPro vs. BlueNotary

BlueNotary’s pricing comes in slightly lower, at CAD $32.52, which may appeal if you only look at the cost. However, if your company’s notary needs change and don’t use two appointments each month, you lose the money already spent. You also cannot book or access their notary services or legal templates without creating an account.

NotaryPro costs about CAD $36.25 per appointment when you purchase appointment credits in a 20-pack. Credits stay valid for two years, giving you flexibility to use them whenever needed.

Beyond pricing, NotaryPro offers more convenient online appointments, a QR code upload feature, and traditional in-person notarization at over 270 Canadian locations. It also provides lawyer-reviewed free templates, instantly accessible with no account required.

For long-term convenience, reliability, and smarter business value, NotaryPro is the stronger overall choice — despite the small price difference. Book your appointment today and experience Canada’s most convenient and completely accessible notary service.
